Mountain Lodge Yankee Candle Review

Candle Fragrance: Mountain Lodge

Manufacturer: Yankee Candle

Candles of this Fragrance I’ve Owned: Large jar, votive, tart

Mountain Lodge is a year-round fragrance (so the store associates tell me) and is part of Yankee Candle’s “Fresh” collection. It’s described on their website as a blend of cedar wood and sage. If you go into a Yankee Candle store, the sales associates will probably tell you that this is considered to be a ‘masculine’ scent. The company has a line of candles that are geared towards a male demographic but are also enjoyed by women. Other candles in this line are Midsummer’s Night, First Down, etc.
I love this fragrance. First, I bought a votive and really enjoyed it. And then I bought a large jar when it was on sale. I’ve also bought it in a tart, also as part of a sale, but I haven’t used it as of this posting.
My first thought to share about this fragrance is that it’s subtle. That’s okay. Think about how strong the Vineyard fragrance is and how you would expect the real experience of being in a vineyard to have a strong scent. I’ve never actually been to a mountain lodge, but I would imagine that a mountain lodge would smell a lot like this fragrance. Plus, I would imagine that a real mountain lodge’s scent would be subtle, which makes a subtle candle fragrance appropriate.
That said, this candle has a decent throw and that includes the votive. The throw won’t knock you out or anything, but it’s hardly weak. Now, in terms of the fragrance type, I’ve heard some people compare it to aftershave and others to perfume. My personal opinion is that it’s closer to aftershave, but not precisely like aftershave. It’s a guy smell, or what people who happen to like guys really enjoy about a guy’s smell.
Of all the Yankee Candle scents I’ve tried—or have used on a regular basis—this is one of my favorites and I definitely plan to buy it again in the future.

     Those who like this candle:

·        Men
·        People who don’t like overpowering fragrances
·        People who like the smell of manly men (haha)
·        People who want to be able to buy a great fragrance year-round

Those who won’t like this candle:

·        People who don’t like subtle fragrances

Disclosure: I bought this candle from Yankee Candle and decided to review it. I was not paid for this review nor was I persuaded to write a particular opinion about this product. All opinions are my own and you might have a different opinion about this product.

In the Beginning . . . .

Hi. I'm Derek. I'm a candle-holic.I love scented candles. I guess I always have. It wasn’t until later that I really got into them and found that I was almost addicted to buying them. Of course, I learned the ins-and-outs pretty quickly. Here, you can expect to learn about all sorts of different candles, accessories, how to economize and how to get the most out of your candle products.
A star-rating system really isn’t my style. Actually, I don’t give ratings at all. I figure readers of this blog would be best served by offering my observations on the product, both the pros and cons. You know, like if there’s a good throw, if it smells good, what form I burned it in (i.e. large jar, votive, melted wax, etc). And I’ll point out who the candle would be best-suited for.
