Vineyard Yankee Candle Review

     Fragrance: Vineyard
     Manufacturer: Yankee Candle
Candles I’ve Owned in this Fragrance: small tumbler jar, small jar, large jar, votive, tart

My first impression of Vineyard was that it smelled like purple Kool-Aid. Or grape juice. Either was fine with me. This was when I cold-sniffed it at a Yankee Candle store in Wareham, Massachusetts. The people I was with were shocked that I bought nothing that day—especially that Vineyard candle I seemed to like so much—but I had too many candles at home to burn through before buying more.
I’m sorry, but my willpower isn’t that great. Soon after, I bought Vineyard in a small tumbler jar from the Cheektowaga, New York location. Let me tell you, this is an amazing fragrance that’s true to its cold sniff. Think of how a wine cellar would smell and you’ll be getting close to what you’ll get with Vineyard.
It has an excellent throw and is very strong, possibly because the smell of a wine cellar would be strong. This would be similar to the subtlety of Mountain Lodge because you’d expect a mountain lodge smell to just blend in. You don’t have to buy a large jar or even a bigger jar or tart to get a strong throw out of this. The throw from the votive is as good as any.

I often use this candle to relax or I burn it while working at my desk. I also use it when company comes because it has a broad appeal and I know people should like it. This is part of Yankee Candle’s Fruit line and is carried year-round. Highly recommended.

Hazelnut Coffee Yankee Candle Review

     Fragrance: Hazelnut Coffee
     Manufacturer: Yankee Candle
Candles I’ve Owned in this Fragrance: votive, tart, small jar

Hazelnut Coffee isn’t just any run-of-the-mill coffee scent. It smells like a special dark roasted blend. The fancy stuff, in other words. Once your room fills with this fragrance, you’ll swear you’re in a coffee shop. The throw is pretty strong, so the room will fill up with the scent pretty quickly.
I like to use this candle to relax, especially if I’ve had a rough day. I also like to use this one when company comes because I know it’ll be a crowd pleaser.

I first bought Hazelnut Coffee in votive. And then it was more votives and a tart. And I bought a large jar. This was because I’d been sniffing around—literally—and came across a gem. Yankee Candle carries this scent year-round, thank God, so you never have to worry about it going out of stock for the season.

Chocolate Layer Cake Yankee Candle Review

Fragrance: Chocolate Layer Cake
Manufacturer: Yankee Candle
Candles Sampled: votive.

Chocolate scents are nothing new to Yankee Candle. They’ve done it a few times with various scents like Whoopie Pie, Chocolate Truffle, etc. But when I saw this at the Cheektowaga, New York location, I absolutely had to give it a try. So, I bought a votive of it (and their new Berrylcious scent).
The first thing to know about this candle is that the scent is extremely authentic. It really does smell like what you’d expect chocolate layer cake to smell like. I’m very lucky because I can enjoy foodie scents without ever actually getting a food craving. So, you don’t have to worry about it smelling fake or like chemically-enhanced junk. It smells like the real thing.
Second, the throw is excellent. And this is just from the votive candle, not the jar or the tart, which is typically stronger. Let the wax pool just a little bit and you’ll quickly fill the room with its scent. I’ve not used other forms for this scent yet, but I won’t rule it out. I would imagine the jars and tarts will be even stronger.
